Objective
This research aims to investigate the challenges faced by first-time leaders and mid-level managers in the healthcare industry and explore how organizations can support their leadership development, commitment, and well-being.
Rationale
Based on previous research % 50 new leaders fail in their leadership role and either quit or step down. In this research study, we aim to provide data regarding the first-time leaders/middle managers' preparedness for organizational and leadership challenges and decisions to stay in their roles than sliding out. Lastly, with our results, we aim to raise awareness for healthcare organizations to focus on organizational challenges that mid-level managers face and make more diverse resources more accessible for mid-level managers to improve their well-being, leadership performance, and commitment to their organizations.
Why It Is Important
Previous research has shown that 50% of new leaders fail in their leadership roles and either quit or step down. By investigating the challenges faced by first-time leaders/mid-level managers in healthcare and exploring how organizations and higher-level leadership support them, we can gather valuable data on their preparedness for leadership and decision-making. This research aims to raise awareness among healthcare organizations about the specific organizational challenges that mid-level managers encounter. By making diverse resources more accessible, we can improve their well-being, leadership performance, and commitment to their organizations. Ultimately, this research will contribute to the development of effective strategies to support and retain first-time leaders/mid-level managers in healthcare, leading to stronger leadership and improved outcomes within the industry.
